Community

Our Saviour's Eucharistic-centered community is an eclectic mix of original church founders, young families, and people representing many racial and cultural traditions around the world. Our unity in Christ is most visible at Sunday morning worship, but it is nourished and formed throughout the week in our parish programs and through our leadership. Day by day, God's action in this community inspires, nurtures, and equips us to reach out to the world in Christ's name.

Our Ministries

The ministries of the Church of Our Saviour are organized into areas of ministry: Stewardship, Worship, Education, Evangelism (Fellowship), Pastoral Care, and Service (Outreach). Each commission is authorized by the Vestry to plan and execute its ministry.

Stewardship: We understand stewardship of our time, talent, and treasure to be the means by which we provide resources to sustain this faith community. Further, by giving to meet the needs of the world beyond our walls, we extend our hands to serve. These dual needs of inreach and outreach activities make stewardship one of the most vital areas of Our Saviour's ministry. The commission continues to educate the congregation about the importance of regular giving, toward the goal of inspiring 100 percent of our members to make an annual pledge.

Evangelism: This commission helps incorporate newcomers into parish life by hosting “Bagels with the Rector,” a monthly Sunday morning gathering that introduces visitors to the many programs offered at the church. In addition, we formally welcome new members two Sundays a year with a breakfast reception and a ceremony during the church service.

Hospitality: This commission seeks to support and nurture our community as we grow together in Christ. The Commission plans fellowship activities like the annual international Pentecost luncheon, church camping trips, Christmas caroling, picnics, and other activities.

Pastoral Care: We understand the act of serving members inside the Church is just as important as serving others outside of it. The Pastoral Care commission supports and extends the pastoral care this community offers its members and friends. This confidential ministry provides sustenance through cards and letters, phone calls, personal visits, home-cooked meals, and other appropriate support.

Service (Outreach) : We believe that God calls our community to service. For only in serving others can we most obediently follow our Lord's example and His words: "just as you did it for the least of these…you did it for me." We serve by giving of our time, our talent, and our treasure beyond our walls. The commission seeks opportunities for the congregation to become actively involved in outreach. We provide meals for a homeless shelter one week every year. We furnish an apartment in a transitional housing program for homeless people working to gain greater self-sufficiency.
