Community
Our Saviour's Eucharistic-centered community is an eclectic mix of original church founders, young families, and people representing many racial and cultural traditions around the world. Our unity in Christ is most visible at Sunday morning worship, but it is nourished and formed throughout the week in our parish programs and through our leadership. Day by day, God's action in this community inspires, nurtures, and equips us to reach out to the world in Christ's name. |

More about our beautiful church facility
The Church of Our Saviour has occupied its present site on two acres at the corner of Powder Mill Road and New Hampshire Avenue since the undercroft of the church was completed in 1958. This was the parish's first permanent home. The undercroft was used for Sunday morning services and all other activities until 1963, when the main church was completed. The undercroft is now used for Sunday school, social functions, and meetings. Thanks to the upgrade of our church kitchen adjacent to the undercroft about five years ago, we are now able to host large group dinners, receptions, and occasional diocesan events.
Our Gothic-style oak pews, altar, and woodwork are framed by limestone arches and glow against the warm brick walls. A Credo window above the main altar tells the story of the Gospel in stained glass. A small chapel just off the nave holds weekday services. A Casavant pipe organ enhances our music. Amplification devices are available for the hearing impaired in two pews.
In 1980, an additional wing was completed. It contains a Commons Room where Vestry meetings, Bible studies, and adult forum classes are held, as well as nursery space and a large classroom/ choir room. A playground was added in 1988, and enhanced lighting for our parking lot was installed three years ago.
In 1991, adjacent to the chapel, we built a walled memorial garden, where parishioners may have their ashes interred or simply meditate away from the hustle and bustle of their daily lives.
