Ongoing Outreach Activities
The Women of Our Saviour are collecting toiletries and feminine care products for the women’s shelter. Please contribute detergent/ fabric softener, new or used twin bed linen (sheets, blankets, pillowcases…), toothbrushes, towels and facecloths, place contributions in the box located in the Narthex. We can use any size items, and your contributions are greatly appreciated.
WINTER COAT AND JACKET DRIVE. The homeless and needy in our community are suffering now that the cold weather is here. Is there a warm winter coat or jacket (any size) in your closet that your family no longer needs? Prepare for the coming of Christ and give freely. (Please donate only items that are clean and in good repair.) There will be a box in the narthex for your donations the rest of this month.
Help Needed: Do you have some professional expertise -- legal or medical -- in end-of-life planning, wills and estate law, insurance, or financial planning? We are looking for parishioners who might advise the Stewardship Committee informally and help us as we develop a Lenten program on Planning for the End of Life. Please contact Fr. Our Kids Room and the Children's Ministry are forming a partnership to open a weekly playspace for preschool-aged children and their parents and caregivers in the community. Gifts of Love Offering: The Gifts of Love Ingathering will be collected on Sunday, March 7, 2010. these funds will support the Diocesan Episcopal Church Women’s activities and the National Episcopal Church Women worldwide projects for UTO and CPC. In 2003, the Women of the Church of Our Saviour Board voted to combine its two major national church ingathering efforts: The United Thank Offering (UTO) which provides grants for a variety of programs, and The Church Periodical Club (CPC) which provides printed and educational materials to individuals organizations. This year, the Diocesan ECW activities will be included in the Gifts of Love ingathering.
Please consider the outreach efforts of these programs and contribute generously.
ECW/Friendship Chapter: Our next meeting will be March 8th at 7:00 p.m. please continue to bring personal items for the Community Based Shelter.
WELCOME SHEPHERD'S TABLE: The Outreach Commission has invited Jacki Coyle, Executive Director of Shepherd's Table in Silver Spring, to our 10:30 service today. After the service, Ms. Coyle will be in the Commons Room at noon, to meet with the Commission and all interested members of the congregation. Shepherd's Table provides important services to homeless in the area. We look forward to developing a working partnership with this organization.
Service Corps is a very informal network of COS members who offer their gifts to community groups outside the Church. We are creating a directory of such members and their specific community interests, so that individuals can better connect with those who have similar interests. A very short survey will be distributed and collected during the service today, so that information can be compiled. Those who miss services today may contact Joan Griggs at
