ANNOUNCEMENTS

Ongoing Outreach Activities

The Women of Our Saviour are collecting toiletries and feminine care products for the women’s shelter. Please contribute detergent/ fabric softener, new or used twin bed linen (sheets, blankets, pillowcases…), toothbrushes, towels and facecloths,  place contributions in the box located in the Narthex. We can use any size items, and your contributions are greatly appreciated.

WINTER COAT AND JACKET DRIVE. The homeless and needy in our community are suffering now that the cold weather is here.  Is there a warm winter coat or jacket (any size) in your closet that your family no longer needs?  Prepare for the coming of Christ and give freely.  (Please donate only items that are clean and in good repair.)  There will be a box in the narthex for your donations the rest of this month.

Help Needed: Do you have some professional expertise  -- legal or medical -- in end-of-life planning, wills and estate law, insurance, or financial planning? We are looking for parishioners who might advise the Stewardship Committee informally and help us as we develop a Lenten program on  Planning for the End of Life.    Please contact Fr. Harvey or Kathy Staudt (kathleen.staudt@gmail.com or 301-588-9116)  if you can help, on this or other future projects related to planned giving.

Keep the date Open! April 10, 2010 is the ECOS Fundraising Dinner Dance! More information about planning events is coming soon!

Special Thanks-givings and “Harvests”:  Many in our congregation come from traditions where occasional thank-offerings are welcomed and included in the worship service, to offer thanks to God for special occasions and memorials.  If you would like to plan a special memorial or thanksgiving offering on a Sunday, please contact Father Harvey at least a week in advance to request a date, and provide the wording of the names or prayers that you would like included in the bulletin.  You and your family and friends will be invited to present your offerings during the service on the designated Sunday. Please mark your calendar and tell your friends!  Again, please contact Fr. Harvey if you desire to publish special thanksgivings in the bulletin for these Sundays.

ECW/Friendship Chapter: Our next meeting will be March 8th at 7:00 p.m. please continue to bring personal items for the Community Based Shelter.

Our Kids Room and the Children's Ministry are forming a partnership to open a weekly playspace for preschool-aged children and their parents and caregivers in the community. We are looking for volunteers to help with staffing and administration. If you are interested in contributing, please contact Angel Holliman at 214-697-4390, or email info@our-kidsroom.com.

Today we honor the memory of our beloved brother in Christ, Mr. Onike R. Jones who died a year ago.  Many of the hymns we sing today were among his favorites and chosen by his family.  His family and friends are with us at the 10:30 service to celebrate his life and pray for his family, especially his beloved wife Angela Jones.  A special memorial walk-up offering will be held during the announcement time and the family will host a special coffee hour reception immediately following the service in the Undercroft of the church.  Please come downstairs following the service to greet the family.

The flowers on the Altar today are given in loving memory of the late Mr. Onike R. Jones by his friends, Roy Gray and family.  May Mr. Jones' soul and the souls of all the departed rest in God's perfect peace.

Flowers on the altar are given in appreciation for Joan Griggs for her work on the Outreach Committee from An Appreciative
